Collins River Kayak Co. started with a dream, but the story behind it began long before we ever opened our doors.

We’re Jonathan and Taylor. We’ve spent the last eight years building a life together, and today, we’re blessed to be raising our two beautiful children, Jaxson and Canaan, right here in the same community we’ve called home our entire lives. McMinnville isn’t just where we live. It’s our home!

​

These rivers, creeks, and backroads are part of who we are. We grew up fishing these waters, paddling these rivers, and spending countless days outdoors. Now, as parents, we get to share those same experiences with our children. Some of life’s best moments don’t happen in front of a screen or inside four walls.. they happen on the water. They happen during a quiet morning fishing, a family float down the river, or an adventure that becomes a story you’ll tell for years. Those are the moments that inspired us to open Collins River Kayak Co.

For years, we’ve felt that McMinnville and the surrounding communities deserved a true local kayak shop. A place built by people who actually know these waters. A place where you’re more than an order number or another sale. A place where someone will take the time to listen to what you want, understand how you plan to use your kayak, and help you find equipment that will make your time on the water safer, more comfortable, and a whole lot more fun. So, we decided to take a chance on our dream.

Starting a family owned business isn’t easy. Collins River Kayak Co. has been built through long days, late nights, hard work, and a whole lot of faith in what we’re creating. We’re building this business while raising our children, and every rack we fill, every kayak we rig, and every customer who walks through our doors becomes a small part of our family’s story.

But this dream has never been about simply selling kayaks.

It’s about helping a father find the kayak he’ll use to take his child fishing for the first time. It’s about helping an angler build the setup they’ve dreamed about for years. It’s about giving a family a new reason to spend their weekends outside together. It’s about helping someone feel safer and more confident on the water with quality equipment they can trust.

Most importantly, it’s about serving the community that raised us.

We are locals. We fish these waters. We paddle these rivers. We’re raising our family here. And we couldn’t be more proud to build Collins River Kayak Co. right here at home.
